WHEN: WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 25, 6:30-8 PM
WHERE: CARNEGIE HALL, 57TH ST. & 7TH AVENUE
The IPO is not an apolitical cultural institution. It serves as a cultural ambassador for the state of Israel, playing a public role in the official Israeli propaganda campaign, Brand Israel, which uses art and music to distract attention from Israel's human rights abuses and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. The Orchestra proclaims that it represents the State of Israel across the world.
The October 25th performance is part of the IPO’s upcoming tour of the US and Canada. Protests will also be held in other cities.
We are responding to the call from Palestinian civil society to boycott cultural institutions that are complicit in Israel’s systematic repression of the Palestinian people, living under Israeli military occupation in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, as unequal citizens in Israel, or as refugees denied their right of return to their homeland.
Join us as we let the IPO know that apartheid is out of tune.
Musical accompaniment for the protest will be provided by the Rude Mechanical Orchestra.
